Thursday 17th May @ 8pm

Tickets: €15/ €12

DA is a very funny, but rather tender play set in Dublin after the burial of Charlie’s (Joe Murphy) father.

His savaging “best friend” Oliver (Eamon Delaney) calls by, prompting the appearance of Da (Kevin Lalor-Fitzpatrick). Charlie retraces the key events of his life. As Young Charlie (Jamie Drury) he recalls his foster-mother Ma (Michelle O’Sullivan) and battles with his first boss Drumm (David Corri).

Da frustrates Young Charlie’s first sexual encounter with Mary Tate (Stasia Kilroy) and ham-fistedly explains to the Younger Charlie (Eamon Brown) the whereabouts of his mother. Da defers to Mrs Prynne (Margaret O'Donohue), his employer, to the disgust of Charlie.

All characters have their faults but are undeniably human and identifiably Irish.  The comedy is laced with pathos. Leonard peppers the dialogue with memorable one-liners on emotional injury, love, and marriage.

Laois Fourth Wall Theatre Group’s production of “DA”, directed by David Corri, utilises many of the cast from the recent successful run of “Big Maggie”. The set is superbly constructed and lit by Lar Cuddy and Keith Mason.
