Irish Singer Songwriter Blaithín CARNEY, who is known for her unique talents, powerful range and hauntingly beautiful thought provoking lyrics,  will take to the stage at the Midsummer Art’s Festival on Sunday 24th of June at McAuley Place.

Previous performances from this chart topping singer have included the legendary Ruby Rooms, Bloom Festival, Sin E and most recently supporting Gavin Glass. Carney has also experienced incredible success with her first two singles, Close My Eyes and her debut offering, Rome, which topped the Singer Songwriter charts on release day, knocking Ed Sheeran off the top spot.

Carney’s music touches on a broad range of influences from Tori Amos, Simon and Garfunkel, Alanis Morrisette to the formative impressions made by Bach and Ravel. The singer-songwriter juxtaposes her classical training with dulcet pop tones, having worked alongside Sir Paul Homes and Tine Verbeke in LA whose previous clients include U2 and The Script.

Her musical journey began as a student of piano at the Royal Irish Academy of Music when she was just four years of age. Years later, having graduated from UCD with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Music and English, CARNEY returned to the Academy to undertake a Masters in Music Performance.

In 2004 on a trip to Los Angeles, CARNEY met Sir Paul Holmes (the New Zealand broadcaster, reporter, writer and singer). The two would form a close friendship and collaborate on songs together. It was during this time that she also met renowned vocal coach, Tine Verbeke who contributed significantly to CARNEY’s development and presence as a vocalist.

Speaking about her success to date CARNEY added: “Getting to this point has been pretty amazing, when my single got to number one ahead of Ed Sheeran it felt incredible and hearing the song on the radio was surreal too”. “I’m finally realising I am good at what I do. Before this I was constantly questioning whether I was good enough and able and I’m finally hitting that point where I’m quietly confident.”
