" The Heart off Guard "
A Celebration of the Poetry of Seamus Heaney
FREE EVENT at 7pm and 8.45pm
Seamus Heaney, arguably one of the most important poets
of the last
100 years made the ordinary extraordinary. Many of us in
The Moat Club were fortunate enough to hear him read from his own work on
many occasions.
With the
permission of The Heaney Foundation and publishers Faber and Faber we are
delighted to present readings from his work for Culture Night in The Moat
Theatre Naas ( 23rd September)In this
event, we will use voice music and imagery to shine a light on Heaney's vast
oeuvre, featuring a selection of his work from his first collection to the
last.
The audience will recognise many favourites but will
also, we hope, discover lesser known gems.
This is a free event but we are accepting donations on
the night for the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres and The Moat Theatre. Book
early to avoid disappointment !!
We would like to acknowledge the support of Kildare Co.
Council and The Arts Council for their contribution towards our event
