Join Sive, Philip Scott and Pete Kavanagh for a ‘Songwriters In The Round’ gig, at The Moat’s Art Café on 13th February 2025 at 7.30pm. Known as "In the Round," these gigs bring together 3 Songwriters, who take turns performing their own songs while sharing the personal stories and inspiration behind them.
It’s all about creating a relaxed, cosy atmosphere where the artists connect with the audience on a deeper level. You’ll hear the funny, heartfelt, and sometimes unexpected tales that shaped their music, all while they have fun bouncing off each other on stage. It’s a unique experience full of great tunes, good vibes, and stories that stay with you long after the night is over.

One of Pete’s songs, Darkness Before Dawn, features on the latest Christy Moore album, ‘A Terrible Beauty’. Christy says:
“Pete Kavanagh from Naas wrote this ballad …. it’s short and complete and describes a reckless and subsequently disastrous IRA raid on the NAAFI store in my home town of Newbridge…. It would have been a justifiable raid on the English Army of occupation had there not been an innocent civilian family asleep upstairs. This awful event took place 100 yards from our home in Moorefield Terrace. Yet I heard nothing of this tragedy until Pete’s fine song came my way.”
