Moat Theatre Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us.

At The Moat Theatre we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.

We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the ongoing operation of one of our services.

We aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control what’s visible to the public, seen by search engines, kept private, and permanently deleted.

If you have questions about deleting or correcting your personal data please contact our support team.

It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.

In order to provide you with the best service possible we also leverage resources supplied by 3rd party providers, including but not limited to, “WordPress.com”, “Gravatar.com” and “Google” who operate their own privacy policies.  At no point do these providers collect or retain any personally identifiable information.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

The Moat Theatre only discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that

(i) need to know that information in order to process it on The Moat Theatre’s behalf or to provide services available on our websites, and

(ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

The Moat Theatre will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.

If you are a registered user of an The Moat Theatre website and have supplied your email address, we may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with The Moat Theatre and our products.

We primarily use our various product blogs to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. The Moat Theatre takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, The Moat Theatre collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. The Moat Theatre’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how our visitors use the website. From time to time we may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our website.

The Moat Theatre also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on WordPress.com blogs. The Moat Theatre only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

Comments

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.  When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. The software we use for uploading should remove all this information automatically, however, we strongly recommend that this information is removed prior to upload.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, The Moat Theatre may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and at The Moat Theatre’s sole discretion. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to our Privacy Policy.

If you have a WordPress.com account, you should also check your blog’s dashboard for alerts to these changes. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Request Your Data

If you have previously registered on our site and wish to download a copy of the data we store please send us a request using the form below, or email us.
